Skip the party. Read the proposals.
This National Public Service Week, CEIU Local 621 is asking you to skip the activities and use your time off the floor to read the proposals. The more informed you are, the stronger we are at the table.
We know you've earned that break. Sit outside with your coworkers and enjoy the employer's food... its literally the least they can do. But while you're there, pull out your phone and read what they're actually trying to take from you.
Wear your union swag for support. Don't give the employer the photo ops. Don't let them use your presence as proof that everything is fine.
To the colleagues organizing office activities this week: we see you, we appreciate you, and we know you're doing your best. This isn't about you.
This is about an employer that has spent nearly a year refusing to bargain seriously, tabling an insulting wage offer, and gutting a contract that every one of us depends on, from call centre to Service Canada centre and beyond.
The union is only as strong as its members. Your contract is worth your attention.
We'll celebrate when there's something to celebrate.
